People's Intrigue

Black Star canyon is one of the only truly beautiful and wild places left in southern CA. the main problem is that people come up there and treat the land like it belongs to them. they leave there trash out there, go off from the main road, steel stuff, and other things of that nature. me and my family get along fine with the people who respect the rules and respect the land. that earns respect from us. the canyon is our backyard and when people trash it it is like people dumping out your trash cans in your yard. people love it out there because it is so beautiful and we want it to stay that way.

the idiots who go out there and are scared of all the ghosts shouldn't worry about it. rest assured they are harmless. in fact they have been so scared to show themselves that they have actually never even been seen by people. it would seem like they are not there at all. wait........................ o haha..... i forgot...... THERE ARE NO GHOSTS.

I went this past Friday with a big group of friends, it was at night and we all wanted to walk the path. We had flash lights and everything, but before we crossed the first gate, I had a rock thrown at me out of no where. We weren't doing anything wrong, just standing there waiting for everyone to get ready. I got freaked out, so we all left.

also, my brother's friend went one time before when he was younger. He and his older brother went at night with 2 other friends. he said it was during a time where there was a big skin head gang party. Well, they went up to a house at the top of the mountain, and their 2 friends went in. Everything was fine, and then they heard them screaming and running around. He and his brother never saw their friends again, and to this day his brother still cries about it.

Is there really a house up there??? Its not marked on any map i know of...

I have had to deal with a lot of people coming up and down the canyons just looking to find out what's there. I have come face to face with gangs and Satan worshipers. I have seen accidents and murdered people. The canyons themselves are beautiful and safe but all the people that come up cause the problems. They are the danger. I have been threated by dogs and people. I have found people checking out my home and trying to tell me that my front yard is public property. We've had over $100,000 of vandalism. I have lived there for many years now. My name is Clarice Tuttle and I'm Art's wife. The problems we've had and the bad things we've seen are all from people coming up the canyon who don't belong there. We have no problems with a nature hiker who carries out his own trash and doesn't harm the plants or animals. The trouble is that people don't come with signs that say good or bad. We have made friends with people only to have them take advantage of us and hurt us. If you treat us with respect, obey the laws, (including dogs on a leash and no motorcycles), and stay on the main road, we will have no problems. But please be aware that it is private. Our dollars have fixed the road and maintained the fences not your tax dollars. If you are kind to us, we will be kind to you. It is a beautiful place and I would like to keep it that way. I would also like to feel that I can be safe in my home out in the country. You can help me with that.

Hate to burst your bubble.. But the lower portion of Black Star Canyon Rd. is maintained still by the County of Orange. Another thing. The only property that is private in Black Star is the ones owned by the IRVINE COMPANY. Art and his family are white trash ex-hippies that smoked bowls all day long in Black Star and decided to settle their as "Nature's Children"

You have no legal right to Black Star Canyon as explained in County Land Documentation. Tuttle does not exist on any deed in that area. Please stop fooling yourself and stop taking down signs that dont belong to you. It is a crime to take down government signs that say it IS a public road.

Dear Mrs. Tuttle,

I too appreciate the beauty of the canyon and can understand your frustrations with the damage people have caused. I empathize with what your family may have to go through in terms of dealing with trespassers and those who do not respect the land as you do. It is my sincere desire to help maintain the land and any time I venture to the beautiful Blackstar, I will be sure to do my part. God bless.

Ms. Clarice Tuttle,

My name is Daisy. I was born and raised in Orange County and attend Santiago Canyon College. I have wanted to explore Black Star Canyon since I first heard of it but I have hesitated due to the myths that I have heard. I have no intentions of doing any harm. My family has taught me to respect the world and the land. They have also gone through similar situations as Black Star Canyon is currently going through.

My mom is from Sinaloa, Mexico. It is mostly canyons and mountains. But i have never had that pleasure of exploring any of them due to the violence that has forever marked those lands. I would honestly like to explore the canyon to be able to get a feel of what my ancester's lived like. I have absolutely no intention of harming mother nature. I would really appreciate any information/help that you could provide me with. I would love to hear any stories that you could tell me. Thank you in advance for your help. God Bless.

Sincerly,
Daisy Beltran

Dear Tuttle family,
This past Saturday me and a group of friend were in the canyon hiking the main trail. This was my first time there and I must say its absolutely beautiful. I understand the frustration of your family having to constantly fix things that people are vandalizing and picking up their trash. My friends and I were talking about it this morning and have agreed that it is only fair to your family and any other residents, that we bring some kind of bag to pick up trash we come across on the trails. There was a lot of trash that does not need to be left there. As this endangers the wild life and beauty of the canyon. I plan to go back as soon as possible and hike the trails. My friends an I mean no harm and give your family the upmost respect, and will try to participate as much as possible in cleaning up the trails as we are walking. Your family is lucky to live in such a gorgeous place and some people can't see that. I look forward to going back and enjoying the things you see everyday.
Sincerely,
Michelle Pettersen
